India is home to a multitude of states, each differing in terms of area. This list presents the 10 smallest states in India by total area.

Topping the list is Lakshadweep, an archipelago in the Arabian Sea, with a meager area of just 30 square kilometers, followed closely by Daman & Diu and Chandigarh with total areas of 111 and 114 square kilometers, respectively. These regions, though small in size, are bustling with high population densities, often exceeding 2000 people per square kilometer.

Next on the list is Puducherry, a former French colony, with a total area of 490 square kilometers. Dadra & Nagar Haveli, a union territory located in Western India, also shares a similar area of 491 square kilometers.

The National Capital Territory of Delhi, with its massive population, covers an area of just 1483 square kilometers, making it one of the smallest states in terms of geographical area.

Further down the list, we see Goa, famous for its beaches, with an area of 3702 square kilometers. Sikkim, the least populous state in India, covers an area of 7096 square kilometers.

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a group of islands at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, and Tripura, located in Northeast India, round up our top 10 list with areas of 8249 and 10486 square kilometers, respectively.
