Sexratio in India

The overall sex ratio in India is 943 females per 1000 males, with a child sex ratio (0-6 years) of 919 girls per 1000 boys.

Kerala leads the country with the highest overall sex ratio of 1085, significantly higher than the national average. This southern state also has a high child sex ratio of 965. Following Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu have commendable sex ratios, with 1038 and 997 females per 1000 males respectively.

States like Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, and Manipur also have sex ratios above the national average, reflecting a more balanced gender distribution. These states, along with Mizoram, also show a favorable child sex ratio.

On the other end of the spectrum, Daman & Diu reports the lowest sex ratio at 619, considerably lower than the national average. Other areas with low sex ratios include Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Chandigarh, NCT of Delhi, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

States such as Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Sikkim also report low child sex ratios, indicative of the prevalence of gender-biased sex selection.
