Jains make up a small fraction of India's population at 0.37%.Jains represent one of the smallest religious communities in India, with their presence across the states being largely negligible. The highest Jain population, in terms of both absolute numbers and percentage, is observed in Maharashtra (1.25%). Following Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh host a relatively larger Jain population, ranging from 0.78% to 0.99%.

In most other states and union territories, such as Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, the Jain population forms less than 0.5% of the total, further underscoring the community's minor representation in the national religious makeup. Even in states with substantial population counts, such as Bihar and West Bengal, Jains account for a mere 0.02% and 0.07% respectively.

Thus, while Jains are dispersed across the country, their concentration is primarily observed in Maharashtra and a few other states.
